West End Community Council meeting

At tonight's West End Community Council meeting, there was a very interesting presentation from Alistair Macleod of Solar Cities Scotland about their Community Carbon Exchange (CCX) project that has already run successfully in the Coldside and Maryfield areas.   It is hoped that, subject to funding, this project can be rolled out to the West End and Whitfield later this year.

The CCX works with groups, businesses, universities and schools on simple, carbon-reducing actions.  It  develops a plan of achievable actions and helps local people and groups monitor and record their successes. The CCX project is all about working with people on projects and events to help them to reduce their carbon footprint.

Its a really good project and I am really hoping it will be extended to the West End.

A number of local issues were also discussed, including road safety at the Sinderins junction.    There was also a 'thank you' to Andrew Wooff, the Community Council's Vice Chair who is taking up a career opportunity in Glasgow.   Andrew has brought both youth and enthusiasm to West End Community Council and has made a great contribution.
