Getting things done - Marchfield Crescent and Marchfield Road #dundeewestend

Having long campaigned for roads improvements in Marchfield Road and Marchfield Crescent, we were pleased that the council agreed to these and feedback from residents has been positive.

Whilst any pavements and roads improvements are welcome, the current budget is wholly inadequate and far too few roads and footpaths are being upgraded.

At the council’s revenue budget earlier this year month, the Liberal Democrat Group proposed an additional £2 million next year for roads resurfacing, £1 million on pavements resurfacing to properly tackle the state of many footpaths and road surfaces that we get so many complaints about.

Unfortunately the other parties voted this down but our group will continue to campaign for roads and pavements improvements and will come forward with proposals for the 2025/26 budget when next year's budget is set this coming February.

Cleanliness at Harris Academy swimming pool #dundeewestend

We recently received complaints about the state of the Harris Academy pool changing rooms.

The staining looked unhygienic and we raised this with Tayside Contracts (which is responsible for the cleaning of the facility) querying if this was a cleaning issue or some form of further repair intervention is required to remove this.

We had a very prompt response from the Managing Director of Tayside Contracts as follows :

"Our cleaning team have reported that the power washer was faulty. This has now been rectified and we do not anticipate that this problem will recur."
