Residents of Thomson Street will be pleased to learn that the street is finally to be re-opened to through traffic after many months of a closure of its southern end due to construction of a care home extension.
I have been given an assurance that, by Friday of this week, the street will be fully reopened, although there will need to be some traffic management – a ‘give and take’ system with just one lane operating. This should not present problems due to relatively low vehicle numbers.
I have been asking the City Council for some time to liaise with the company constructing the care home extension to get the road re-opened as it has been closed for months, with only some through access at weekends. Given the narrowness of the street, manoeuvring vehicles at the dead end has been an added difficulty. I am therefore pleased the road will finally be open to through traffic.
