Siobhan Miller |
From Sheena Wellington:
On Wednesday 6th November, at 1.15pm, the Friends of Wighton present their popular monthly lunchtime concert, upstairs in the Central Library.
Admission to the concert is free and all are welcome. November's event is organised in conjunction with Live Music Now, and the performer will be singer Siobhan Miller.
Siobhan Miller was voted 'Scots Singer of the Year' in the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2011. Her repertory includes Scottish traditional, contemporary and self-penned songs. Her hotly anticipated solo album is due for release in 2014.
Live Music Now was founded 35 years ago by Yehudi Menuhin and his friend Ian Stoutzker. Live Music Now explains: "It is our ambition to bring live music to more people". They take young, professional musicians, and send them out into the community to perform across the UK.
The Friends of Wighton organise events in the Wighton Centre, a special study and performance venue in Dundee Central Library which houses the internationally important Wighton Collection of old Scottish music books.
This concert is a great chance to see inside the Centre, and to hear one of Scotland's leading young singers.
