This morning, along with the Lord Provost, fellow councillors, veterans, civic guests and council officers, I took part in a short ceremony in the City Square to mark the armistice signed at that moment in 1918, marking the end of the first World War: the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. A large gathering of Dundonians joined with us in the City Square and took part in the two minute silence.
This was, again this year, an opportunity for all of us to remember those who lost their lives, not only in the two world wars, but in all wars since the Great War of 1914-18.
