Thomson Street

There are further works planned in Thomson Street next year, following on from the road closure last month for gully replacement work (see http://tinyurl.com/thomsonstreet or click on the headline above to view the earlier story).

The Acting Team Leader, Network Management, in the City Council has now advised me that both Scotland Gas Networks (SGN) and Scottish Water (SW) have works planned for 2010 :

"Scottish Water are planning to go into Thomson Street shortly after April 2010. SW have two mains in the street. They plan to slipline the larger 6" main and abandon the smaller 4" main. SGN are investigating the possibility of either using this abandoned main or at least occupying that berth in the carriageway. SGN and Turriff are looking into this at the moment.

It is too early to estimate the duration of works, SGN following right after SW's works are completed or possible, but I will let you know as soon as we have programmes agreed with them. My Team will be processing Temporary Traffic Orders to close the road during the works."

Despite the gully replacement works recently, I am continuing to receive complaints from residents about a drains smell on part of the roadway and I have raised the concerns with the City Engineer.
